    Does Magnesium Speed Up Metabolism?
Magnesium plays a role in regulating your heartbeat, making bodily proteins, maintaining normal nerve and muscle function, regulates glucose to help prevent diabetes has well as strengthening your bones. You require magnesium to metabolize carbohydrates and fat, and it also helps produce ATP -- or adenosine triphosphate -- a compound that fuels your metabolic processes. A study that was published in the "Diabetes Care" linked magnesium deficiency with obesity and insulin resistance, two conditions that are associated with a sluggish metabolism. If your levels of magnesium are deficient , your body cannot fully absorb Calcium. Two power house nutrients that need each other are Magnesium and Calcuim!

Are you a TWISTED SISTER?  You’re Achy, You’re Sore, and You Have No Idea Why
It feels like muscle pain, but unlike a tight hamstring that makes you yelp when you stand up, your ache isn’t triggered by a particular movement, and you can feel it in different places at various times. The culprit could be your fascia (pronounced “fash-ya”), says Mary Ann Wilmarth, DPT, chief of physical therapy at Harvard University Health Services. This sheet of tissue, made up of densely packed protein fibers, weaves throughout the entire body, and it binds and supports your muscles, bones and even your organs.
This internal webbing helps different muscle systems communicate with one another — they’re what make you want to get out of your office chair and stretch or roll your neck around. Ideally, your fascias should be supple enough to slide, glide, twist and bind like long, thin sheets of rubber. When they’re not functioning properly, signals from the nerve endings are muffled or muted (so you don’t feel comfortable in your own body) or they’re interpreted by your brain as pain and discomfort.
The fix: The best way to release the fascia is to slowly and luxuriously stretch out your arms and legs and roll slowly from side to side before getting out of bed. This will gently pull the muscles apart and separate the connecting tissue, Wilmarth says. To get at the fascia in your calves, ankles and arches, sit on the edge of the bed and flex and point your feet before putting the pressure of your weight on them.

8 Natural Tips to Help Prevent a Cold No. 1: Wash Your Hands
There's no mystery about how cold and flu viruses spread. Someone who's sick sneezes in his hand and then touches the telephone, the keyboard, or a kitchen glass. You can pick up the germ when you touch that object, even hours later.
So wash your hands often. If you can't get to a sink, rub them with a hand sanitizer that's got alcohol in it.
No. 2: Don't Cover Your Sneezes and Coughs With Your Hands
Do your part to keep germs away from your family and friends. Viruses cling to your bare hands, so don't use them to muffle your coughs and sneezes.
When you feel one coming, use a tissue, then throw it away. If you don't have one with you, cough or sneeze into the inside of your elbow.
No. 3: Don't Touch Your Face
Cold and flu viruses enter your body through your eyes, nose, and mouth. Teach your kids not to touch their faces -- and follow your own advice.
No. 4: Do Aerobic Exercise Regularly
Aerobic exercise is any activity that gets your heart pumping. It helps increase your body's natural virus-killing cells.
No. 5: Eat Foods Containing Phytochemicals
"Phyto" means plants, and the natural chemicals in them give the vitamins in food a supercharged boost. So put away the vitamin pill and eat dark green, red, and yellow veggies and fruits.
    No. 6: Don't Smoke
Heavy smokers get more severe and frequent colds. Even being around smoke hurts the immune system, your body's defense against germs.
Smoke dries out the passages in your nose. It affects your cilia -- the delicate hairs that line your nose and lungs and help sweep away cold and fluviruses. Experts say just one cigarette can stop them from working for as long as 30 to 40 minutes.
No. 7: Cut Back on Drinking Alcohol
Heavy drinking curbs the immune system. It can make you more likely to get infections as well as complications. Alcohol also dehydrates your body.
    No. 8: Relax
Your germ-defense system will appreciate it. There's evidence that your immune system revs up when you de-stress.
One way to relax: train yourself to picture an image you find pleasant or calming. Do this 30 minutes a day for several months.

5 Health Benefits of Foam Roller Exercises While there are many reasons to incorporate foam rolling into your fitness routine, let’s briefly look at 5. 1. Improved flexibility and increased joint range of motion For years, stretching was the standard method to decrease muscle tightness and improve flexibility prior to either working out or performing a sport. Newer research, however, shows foam roller exercises before an activity can lead to an increase in flexibility. (2) 2. Better circulation Because blood carries oxygen throughout the body, good circulation becomes crucial to overall health. Among other reasons, a decrease in our circulation can lead to a whole host of problems like numbness in our limbs, impaired cognitive ability (the ability to think clearly!) and a weak immune system. Myofascial release can help improve circulation by breaking up the tight areas where blood flow may become restricted. 3. Stress reduction Foam roller exercises can help reduce stress post-workout. One study found myofascial release can lower cortisol, your stress hormone that you want to seriously dial down after a strenuous workout. (3) 4. Reduce exercise-related soreness Whether you are an experienced athlete or a weekend warrior, you’ve probably experienced delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). (4) Simply put, DOMS is the pain and stiffness in your muscles that can typically set in anywhere from 24–48 hours after an intense workout. However, research finds foam rolling can substantially reduce the chances of that soreness creeping in so that you don’t spend the day after your first cycling class stuck on the couch wondering why your legs hate you so much. (5) 5. Prevent injury Treating an injury becomes much easier when you avoid it in the first place. Oftentimes a consistent routine of proper stretching techniques combined with foam roller exercises can prevent many injuries associated with tightness and overuse, such as iliotibial band syndrome and other common running injuries. The iliotibial band runs from the top of the leg by your hip to just below your knee. It tends to be particularly susceptible to injury, especially in runners. One caveat: If not done properly, you can do more harm than good. (6) Rolling on an already inflamed area can actually increase inflammation, thereby giving you the exact opposite effect you are trying to achieve. #health #reducestress # loseweight

Don't have a heart attack...take BLADDERWRACK....worth the time to read on..... Health Benefits of Bladderwrack
Thyroid Improvement: , bladderwrack was the original source of iodine back in the 19th century. Iodine is an important modulator for our thyroid gland and can ensure that our hormonal and metabolic activities are under control. Therefore, as a powerful source of iodine, bladderwrack has become associated with treating many types of thyroid disorders. Primarily, bladderwrack stimulates the thyroid gland to increase hormonal output. Weight Loss and Obesity: One of the other effects of bladderwrack is a heightened metabolism, which makes it easier to lose weight, as your body is working right along with you. Bladderwrack has been praised as a weight loss tool for generations, and the western world is just starting to realized how beneficial it can be. When your body is working at a high level and burning off more fat, you also suppress the appetite, thereby preventing obesity and the other related health issues that come along with it. Vision Health: The high levels of beta-carotene found in bladderwrack make it an ideal solution for someone trying to improve their vision. Beta-carotene is an antioxidant that directly neutralized free radicals in the eyes and cornea. Essentially, bladderwrack can help slow down macular degeneration and prevent the development of cataracts. Reduce Inflammation: One of the other popular uses of bladderwrack over the years has been as an anti-inflammatory substance. Whether you are suffering from gout, arthritis, hemorrhoids, or skin irritation, bladderwrack can successfully neutralize the irritation, reduce swelling, and even relieve pain. The internal and external (topical) uses of bladderwrack are both useful approaches, and are even better in conjunction, such as for sore muscles and joints. Cancer Prevention: Fucoidan is a unique type of fiber that is found in high quantities within bladderwrack. Research has connected fucoidan with many health benefits, including lowering cholesterol, reducing blood sugar levels, and having anti-tumor effects. Essentially, one of the functions of fucoidan is to regulate a substance necessary for cell reproduction and growth. By slowing down that cell growth process, cancer proliferation can be reduced. Digestive Health: There are a number of different types of fiber found in bladderwrack, but one particularly important one is alginic acid, which relieves constipation and adds bulk to the bowels, promoting smooth digestive process that is efficient in terms of nutrient uptake. Furthermore, this helps to relieve excess flatulence, bloating, cramping, and more serious conditions like gastric ulcers and colon cancer.
